How 2020. the season is going in Vela Stiniva Bay

Beach view

It is the end of July and Vela Stiniva Bay is very well filled. There are no Australians and there are very few Americans. These are the people who went to the world a long time ago and now their grandchildren or great-grandchildren are already coming to Vela Stiniva. There are currently a lot of Poles and Slovenes in the bay.

Who are our guests

This year we are full from 10.7. to 31.8. The first two groups come to us from Poland, then the Italians come and finally the Slovenes. We hope that this will not be the end of the season because it is very likely that September will be very hot.

Our house, or apartment that we rent, is ideal for two families with a total of four children. The parents each settle into their own room, eventually, take a child with them, and the other children settle into a third room.

Not bad either, a variant with a total of 4 people. This is for those who really want to enjoy the space. They have three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a balcony, and a terrace.

Corona virus situation

There are no recorded cases of infection on the island of Hvar, so there are none in Vela Stiniva. There are several Americans in the bay, but they were all involuntary self-isolation before coming to Croatia. People generally respect the social distance and for now, everything is in perfect order.

What people do in Vela Stiniva Bay

First of all you should know, is something about micro-climate in Vela Stiniva Bay. These days the sun rises around 5:30 am, but in the bay, it appears only after 8:00 am. It also sets much earlier than elsewhere. The reason for this is the hills around the bay which results in cool nights and bearable days.

Mostly the wind blows every afternoon, which means the weather will still be good. Otherwise, the locals have a special name for each wind, and they distinguish them according to the direction from which they blow. With that wind, it is really pleasant to sit in the shade and sip beer or light wine.

And so people take advantage of this situation and head towards the village on the main road which is located at 311 meters above sea level. The road to the village is quite steep and is about 3 kilometers long. Of course, the future ones continue further from the village. On that road, people walk slowly, walk fast, run, cycle.

Tourists, of course, bath, swim, dive, go fishing, ride a SUP or kayak. Sea is beautifully clear and clean, and its heat is about 22 degrees Celsius. Refreshing!

Our plans for next year

It's me.
It’s me, Darko

Our apartment is quite large and so far we have mostly been looking for larger groups of 6 to 8 people. And in that sense we advertised. We started with a price for 6 people, and then added 10 euros for each person over 6. However, such tourists are quite rare and the market is very narrow.

For next year we will start with price for 4 people or less. We will offer a very competitive price for such a family or group. And if such guests choose to come they will have full comfort and plenty of space.

We also bought a small boat that will be able to be rented on a daily basis. The boat is suitable for trips to the surrounding area, where you can find many beautiful and secluded coves.

The biggest problem in Vela Stiniva Bay is too short a season. People are crammed into a period of a month and a half, despite the fact that June and September are very pleasant to rest. And that’s our main goal: to find a way to get guests in those two months.
